Oh my stamping friends, it’s been way too long since I last spoke to you on this blog. 2017 has been off with a bang, or lack thereof, depending on how you look at things. I’ve always thought of myself as a “lemons to lemonade” type person. Things don’t always turn out the way we plan, but if we keep an open mind, anything can be rerouted to accomplish a goal.
My girls and I went with my parents to Florida for a little vacation and for me to run the WDW half marathon… which ended up being cancelled thanks to thunderstorms. A big shout out to Disney for doing an awesome job, offering options, which they didn’t have to do, to repay people for the race. They gave all race participants their medals. We didn’t want to get a medal without doing the work, so friends of mine and I ran our 13.1 miles around Disney property. Definitely one of the most creative runs I’ve had. We titled it, “The People’s Run – lemons to lemonade”. Turns out we weren’t the only ones who wanted to earn their medal. We passed TONS of runners doing the same thing! Member’s of the CHeAR squad were out cheering people on and handing out water. They made toilet paper finish lines. Joe and I wore our Penn State Alumni Blue Band tee’s and had quite a few ransom, “We Are!” chants throughout our journey. No PR’s but a huge amount of inspiring fun. On top of the race cancellation, I lost my driver’s license, had my AmEx card compromised, and had flights cancel and randomly reschedule in the worst ways possible. From this craziness, learned that AmEx also has great customer service, it is possible to get through airport security without a photo ID, and I am very grateful to Brian who drove to Philly to pick us up as I couldn’t rent a car or fly into State College for another 2 days.
Fast forward to the next week, when my dear Addison turned 6! We celebrated with an ice skating party. I learned that my kids are MUCH better skaters than me. I didn’t quite make it 1 lap around the rink when I lost my balance, fell backwards, and broke my wrist! A total nightmare for a crafter AND dog groomer.
This setback has given me time to think about my stamping business. Where it is and where I want it to go. That’s what brings me to you today. I want to continue to inspire the crafter in all of you, through my blog, my classes, and they ways I use Stampin’ Up!’s products to enrich out lives. Too often, I hear from people that they aren’t crafty. Stampin’ Up!’s kits make it SO easy to bring out the crafter in anyone. Paper Pumpkin is one of my favorite escapes. You don’t have to think of the project, they provide it for you. January’s kit is all about Valentine’s. This weekend, look for a Facebook live video of my girls and me working on completing this kit for their school Valentine’s. It’s the perfect way to send a special favor to a friend without having to spend lots of time or money on a Pinterest worthy idea!
